Smart Car Engine Rebuild Kit - Fortwo - The Oh Dear Kit
For ALL models of Smart car fortwo city coupe & cabrio with the 599cc or 698cc petrol engines from 1999 to 2007. EXCEPT BRABUS.
"The Oh Dear kit" - Almost the worst case situation is when the bits from the damaged valves have scored the cylinders, or one or more of the pistons is damaged. This might even mean a re-bore. The pistons are the single most expensive part of the engine, so if they have to be replaced it is surely sensible to go "the whole hog” and recondition the engine by also replacing the oil pump and its drive chain, and the timing chain as well. So this kit contains:
- 3 Sets pistons with rings sets (already fitted)
- Main Bearings shells
- Big end bearing shells (genuine item with locating lug)
- Front and Rear crankshaft oil seal
- A set of con-rod cap bolts
- Head overhaul gasket and seal set (includes head gasket, inlet manifold seal set (of 3), exhaust manifold shield gasket, throttle body seal, valve stem seals (set of 6), cam half moon seal, thermostat seal to head, waterpump outlet o-ring, etc)
- Head Bolts set (of 8)
- 3 Exhaust valves
- 3 Inlet Valves
- Oil pump
- Oil pump chain Kit
- Timing chain kit (including tensioners)
- Gearbox main shaft seal
- 2 drive shaft oil seals
- Crankcase Breather pipe
- Large tube of Wellseal instant gasket for the sump, rocker etc
This kit contains a mixture of genuine and equivalent quality parts.
Oversized pistons are available. They are the same price. Options are 0.25mm and 0.50mm oversize for the 599cc, but 0.25mm oversized is the only option for the 698cc.
Oversized conrod and main bearing shells are also available. Options are 0.25mm and 0.50mm for both the 599cc and 698cc.

We cannot ship the liquid/instant gasket outside the mainland UK, so international orders will not include this item.
The price of this kit indicates the likely cost of parts to recondition an engine, before any labour cost is added. If you have been offered a "reconditioned" engine for less, or for close to this figure, we'll leave you to draw your own conclusions!
